Blackjack Decisions a Player Has to Make
In blackjack, there are different choices a player should select from. This pertains to achieving the overall objective of blackjack - which is to obtain a sum of 21 from your cards. Hence, a player is faced with many choices depending on what action he or she is willing to take. Here are the different blackjack decisions:
To Hit One of the common blackjack decisions is hitting, or accepting more cards. Hitting goes on until the player reaches the sum of 21 or over. Hitting poses a risk - a player who hits recklessly might be faced with a "busted" hand, a card with a sum of over 21, an indication of loss.
To Stand After hitting, a player is given another one of the blackjack decisions, which is to stand. To stand means to decline any more cards from the dealer. When a player stands, he or she submits the final card to the dealer, and the participant who has a sum of 21 or nearest to it wins. A bust is not counted.
To Surrender There are also different blackjack decisions that concern a player when it comes to betting chips on the table. Surrender is offered by the dealer who has no blackjack. When a player surrenders he gives up the round and loses only half of the bet. However, the player should whether or not his set of cards is worth fighting for.
To Split Splitting is one of the rare blackjack decisions a player faces with the cards. If the hand shows a matching pair (like a pair of tens) then the player is given the option to split. Splitting results in two different hands, and the player must place another bet similar to the initial bet. Most casinos allow players to split three times - meaning four different hands that come from the same number, like a ten.
To Double Down Doubling down is also one of the blackjack decisions that a player faces when it comes to betting. When a player chooses to double down, he or she doubles his bet is allowed to receive one more card. Unlike splitting, doubling down allows the player to place additional bet on the same hand.
These blackjack decisions are the different concerns of a player in a blackjack table. Whenever faced with a hand, remember to act on those decisions wisely. Remember that proper execution of these decisions can increase your chances of victory, and thereby you can hope to gain some profit while playing.
